If you or your child’s physician have a concern about your child’s speech development, call our office or fill out our form to schedule a speech evaluation. If you have questions about whether your child needs speech therapy services, we are here to help! Give us a call today for a free consultation with a therapist to determine if you need a complete evaluation. Our evaluations are typically an hour to an hour and a half in length and are covered by health insurance for participating plans. At the time of the call, you will be asked for your insurance information. Private pay options are also available if your insurance plan is not accepted. Our team will let you know if any other information is needed.

Evaluation

Prior to your evaluation, a history form will be sent to you via email or mail. We ask that you bring these forms with you to your evaluation so that your therapist can address concerns you may have during your visit. After speaking in detail about your child, concerns you have, and their current development, one of our therapists will conduct an assessment with your child. The assessments are often play-based and are standardized so that results can be compared to children who are in the same age category as your child. Your child's therapist will score the assessment and create a customized treatment plan to address your child’s needs.

Treatment Plan

Treatments are customized and unique to every child at Pediatric Therapy Source. Plans are based on score results, parent reports, and therapist expertise, and they are made collaboratively between professional and parent. You may choose to review your therapy plan in person with your therapist prior to your child’s first visit or complete a review by phone, email, or mail. Your child’s plan will outline the frequency of recommended visits, the length of each visit (typically 30 minutes), and the number of weeks that the treatment plan will last.

After designing the treatment plan, your family selects a weekly therapy schedule. Parents frequently choose to reserve the same time every week or bi-weekly for therapy services. The rate of therapy service will be outlined in your child’s therapy plan and will be determined based on the severity of need, parent concern, and therapist recommendation. We offer services in our outpatient office. Parents are always welcome to join, observe, or participate in the therapy process! Therapy sessions are fun, play-based, and customized.

Parent Meetings

During each therapy session, therapists will be monitoring progress towards goals. This progress is always shared at the conclusion of each session and will also be presented in an organized progress report for you to review every 12 weeks. Our reports contain qualitative data as well as therapist input and parental concerns. If parents have questions or concerns about their child's speech therapy progress that are not being addressed during each session, they are able to schedule optional meetings with their child's therapist to discuss these concerns, therapy strategies, or learn about tips that can be used at home to maximize your child’s progress. This meeting may be held via phone, web camera, or in person.

Reevaluation

Pediatric Therapy Source completes reevaluation of target skills every 6 months. At this time the initial evaluation will be re-administered and scored. Therapists may choose to administer an alternative assessment if clinical judgment reveals a specific assessment to be more appropriate for your child. Results will be scored and your child’s therapist will write a detailed report of the findings and their professional recommendations. The team will then discuss the findings and determine if a new treatment plan is needed or if your child will be discharged from therapy services.
